Teen Driving Lessons
Our teen driver education program is built for first-time drivers. Students complete 24 hours of classroom instruction, 7 hours of behind-the-wheel training, and 7 hours of observation — everything Texas requires. Your teen learns real skills, safe decisions, road signs, lane control, parking, and confidence before driving alone.
Our adult driver education meets you where you are, whether you’re 18+, new to driving, nervous behind the wheel, or holding an international license. Choose private 1-on-1 adult driving lessons (10, 8, 6, 4, or 2 hours), or a 6-hour online permit class. Every option builds real confidence before your road test. Lessons focus on real-world driving skills, confidence, traffic awareness, parking, lane control, and safe decision-making.
Ready to take your driving test? Our 3rd-party road test service gives eligible drivers a convenient local option to complete their skills test at our testing center. We also offer road test preparation to help you practice key skills before test day.
Our preparation can cover stopping, signaling, right-of-way, lane position, parking, speed control, traffic signs, and other skills commonly assessed during the driving test.

Step 1 of 4 · Driver education
A teen starts with the state-approved teen course: classroom lessons plus 7 hours of driving and 7 hours of observation. We issue the certificate (form DE-964) that DPS asks for when the teen applies for a license.
After the classroom part, the teen applies for a learner permit at Texas DPS ↗.

Step 3 of 4 · Supervised practice
Took classroom drivers ed somewhere else? Our in-car course covers the 7 hours of driving and 7 hours of observation with a licensed instructor, in a car with an instructor brake. Texas also requires 30 hours of supervised practice with a licensed adult age 21 or older.
Needs a valid Texas learner permit. Already in our full teen course? Your in-car hours are included.

Step 4 of 4 · The driving test
Take the official driving test on-site in Plano, usually with a much shorter wait than DPS. Examiners score control, observation, positioning and signaling. Add a practice drive right before the test if you want a warm-up.
You’ll need to be 16 or older, have held your learner permit for 6 months, and bring an Impact Texas Teen Drivers certificate from the last 90 days. Pass, and DPS issues the license.

If you’re 18–24, Texas requires the state-approved 6-hour adult driver education course before you apply for a learner permit. At 25 or older it’s optional but recommended. It’s online and self-paced, and you get the certificate DPS asks for.
